VIDEO: What’s so special about Ardi?
Before the discovery of Ardi, Lucy (and later-discovered individuals of her species) was the oldest known hominid fossil, at 3.2 million years old. Since 2009, scientists have issued findings on Ardi, among which is that she was about a million years older than Lucy.
This approximately 10-minute video shows the Middle Awash project scientists explaining Ardi’s significance.
