Yellow crazy ants have invaded Australia. One reason they are such successful and destructive invaders is their ability to generate multiple queens which start new colonies. One mechanism of their ability to start colonies is a rafting ability which allows them to travel by water.

The video below captures the rafting mechanism of travel, at the end of the video. The photographer asks: When was the last time you saw a concentration of ants thick enough to form a mat, float away, and potentially start a new colony downstream, if a queen is among the rafting mat?
