Sylvia Earle: 2014 Glamour Woman of the Year

Volunteers, such as the pilots of Lighthawk, donated services to make Mission Blue’s Hope Spots a reality.

Sometime in 2013, Sylvia Earle spoke to a group of pilots and their guests. Their organization, Lighthawk, participated in the Mission Blue project by flying the Mission Blue scientists over areas that were being identified as worthy of focus for the Mission Blue project.

It’s difficult to contemplate fitting in an hour’s video to a busy day’s schedule, until you see the very first slide in this presentation, a breathtaking picture of a diver, likely to be Ms. Earle, herself, in full swim-stride, underwater.

Even if you have no time to see the video, you will want to see this unforgettable picture.

If you do have time to watch the video, it is very worthwhile. You will see creatures of the deep as individuals, and submersible sea vehicles as early exploration vehicles for what Earle hopes will be a fuller exploration of the life in the sea, in the future.
